Mental health care for teens, without the wait

For parents of 16- and 17-year-olds with anxiety, low mood, focus problems or school stress. Seen within two weeks, by video from home or in person in Reston or Lansdowne.

When it's more than teen mood

  • Worry or sadness that lasts weeks, not days
  • Pulling away from friends and activities
  • Grades slipping, or school refusal
  • Sleep that has changed a lot
  • Irritability or anger that feels out of character
  • Talk of not wanting to be here (call 988 or 911 now)

How it works

A parent books and attends the first visit, which is a 60-minute evaluation with our psychiatric nurse practitioner. We talk with your teen, with you, and together. The plan may include therapy with our licensed clinician, medication when appropriate, or both, and we review it every 2–4 weeks.

The first visit is an evaluation, not a prescription. We coordinate with your pediatrician and school counselor only with your permission.

Common questions

Does a parent have to be there?

Yes. A parent or guardian books the appointment and attends the first visit. For video visits, the teen and parent join from home.

What do you treat in teens?

Anxiety, low mood, ADHD and school stress for ages 16–17. More complex situations are referred to child and adolescent psychiatry; we help you find the right place.

Will you talk to the pediatrician or school?

Only with your permission. When you want us to, we coordinate with the pediatrician and, for school accommodations, with counselors.

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book directly online, or call or text us. If your doctor referred you, we will send them a summary after your first visit with your permission.

Do you take insurance?

Yes. We are in network with most major plans through Privia Medical Group. See our insurance page for the current list and self-pay rates.

How soon can I be seen?

Most new patients are seen within 14 days. Urgent referrals from a provider are usually seen within 7 days.

Can I do my visits by video?

Yes. We see patients by secure video anywhere in Virginia. Some first visits and some conditions are better in person; we will tell you which.

Will my primary care doctor know?

Only with your permission. If you are a VPMC primary care patient, your mental health and medical care are coordinated in one record.
